Luminous Health & Wellness was founded on a simple belief — that every patient deserves a doctor who truly listens, who remembers their name, and who shows up for them as a whole person.

Dr. Medina Galvan is dual board-certified in family medicine and obesity medicine and is certified by the Menopause Society. She is dedicated to women's health and specializes in helping women navigate the physical and emotional changes of perimenopause with compassionate, evidence-based care.
She served as President of the East Branch of the Harris County Medical Society in 2018 and currently serves as President of the North Branch for 2026.
As the founder and CEO of Luminous Health and Wellness, Dr. Medina Galvan focuses on obesity, hormone health, and chronic conditions — offering personalized, patient-centered care with a holistic approach.
She is also a USCIS civil surgeon and an FAA-designated aviation medical examiner, expanding the range of specialized services available at Luminous.
Beyond the clinic — Dr. Medina Galvan enjoys spending time with her husband David, their three daughters, and their beloved dog. She is actively involved in her community, volunteering at her local church and serving in the children's ministry at Grace Church in Humble.

Jennifer is a medical assistant with a lifelong passion for helping others. She is committed to treating every patient with the same kindness and respect she would expect for herself. Joining Luminous Health & Wellness has given her the opportunity to continue doing what she loves — providing compassionate, patient-centered care in a supportive environment.
Outside the clinic, Jennifer enjoys thrifting and exploring new cultures through cooking.

Our Logo's Story
The Luminous butterfly isn't just a brand mark — it's a tribute to a woman who believed in Dr. Medina before she believed in herself.
TIA MINERVA
The woman who
saw right through me.
There are people who influence our lives and deeply change us for the better. One of those people was my aunt Minerva. When I was young, my parents worked multiple jobs. Tia Minerva would help take care of me and my younger brother while they were away.
"Get over here! Look me in the eyes," she'd say. She'd get real close and whisper, "I see a little horsey running across your eyes. You're lying to me." I would run to the bathroom mirror to see the horsey for myself. That dang horse was always giving me away.
In 2012, I was in my second year of residency at Houston Methodist Hospital — one of four residents chosen to continue training at a globally recognized institution. I was learning from global leaders in medicine. And I was ready to quit. By this time, my beloved Tia Minerva had been in the hospital for months.

She believed in me more than I believed in myself. It's her words that gave me the strength to finish. My aunt passed away one month after that visit in the hospital.
My Tia Minerva loved butterflies. She was strong, brave, and packed a lot of punch in a small package. As I embark on this journey as a small business owner, I think of her often — and it's out of the love I will always carry for her that I designed the Luminous logo as a butterfly with two faces looking at each other. Her eyes looking into mine.

The butterfly
Tia Minerva loved butterflies. She was strong, brave, and packed a lot of punch in a small package. The butterfly is her spirit — and the spirit of this practice.
Two faces, one logo
The butterfly is designed with two faces looking at each other — her eyes looking into mine. A reminder of the woman who saw the truth in Dr. Medina before she could see it herself.
Blue & green — the ocean
The colors are those of the ocean — the crystal blue-green waters that recharged Dr. Medina's soul during medical school. The ocean she almost let herself drown in shallow waters beside.
